It was a quiet week in Ontario, but get ready for a battle next week OUA. The matchup we have all been waiting for is here. Will Western get revenge on the defending Yates Cup Champs, or will Laurier solidify their spot at the top of Ontario? We find out Saturday.

1. Western Mustangs (-)

LAST YEAR: 9-2, Yates Cup loss

THIS YEAR: 7-0, T-1st, OUA

WEEK EIGHT: Friday, 65-28 win at York

2. Laurier Golden Hawks (-)

LAST YEAR: 11-1, Vanier Cup loss

THIS YEAR: 7-0, T-1st, OUA

WEEK EIGHT: Friday, 55-12 win vs. Carleton

3. Montreal Carabins (-)

LAST YEAR: 11-1, Vanier Cup loss

THIS YEAR: 6-1, 1st, RSEQ

WEEK EIGHT: Friday, 43-2 win vs. Sherbrooke

4. Laval Rouge et Or (-)

LAST YEAR: 11-1, Vanier Cup win

THIS YEAR: 5-1, 2nd, RSEQ

WEEK EIGHT: Friday, 43-21 win at McGill

5. Saskatchewan Huskies (-)

LAST YEAR: 6-4, Hardy Cup loss

THIS YEAR: 5-1, T-1st, CW

WEEK EIGHT: CanWest Bye

Saskatchewan ranks in at my #1 in CanWest. The Huskies are the clear favourite until proven otherwise and with only two weeks left in the regular season on the prairies, it's looking like the dogs will be the favourites for the Hardy Cup. — Geono Aloisio, CanWest Writer

6. Regina Rams (-)

LAST YEAR: 5-6, Mitchell Bowl loss to Laval

THIS YEAR: 5-1, T-1st, CW

WEEK EIGHT: CanWest Bye

7. Queen's Gaels (-)

LAST YEAR: 6-4, Yates Cup semifinal loss to Laurier

THIS YEAR: 5-2, T-3rd, OUA

WEEK EIGHT: BYE

8. McGill Redbirds (-)

LAST YEAR: 3-6, Dunsmore Cup semifinal loss to Montreal

THIS YEAR: 2-5, 4th, RSEQ

WEEK EIGHT: Friday, 43-21 loss vs. Laval

9. Manitoba Bisons (-)

LAST YEAR: 7-2, Hardy Cup semifinal loss

THIS YEAR: 3-3, 3rd, CW

WEEK EIGHT: CanWest Bye

10. SMU Huskies (11)

LAST YEAR: 5-5, Loney Bowl loss to Bishop's

THIS YEAR: 6-1, 1st, AUS

WEEK EIGHT: Saturday, 50-7 win at Bishop's

SMU remains an enigma, but an enigma that felt wrong to leave outside the top-10 this week. The Huskies have separated from the rest of the AUS, with their only blemish this season coming by three points to the X-Men. 252 points for with only 52 allowed is ridiculous. — Jeffrey Kennett, CanWest Writer

11. Calgary Dinos (-)

LAST YEAR: 2-6, missed playoffs

THIS YEAR: 2-4, T-4th, CW

WEEK EIGHT: Saturday, 18-12 loss at Regina

12. Windsor Lancers (15)

LAST YEAR: 5-4. Yates Cup semifinal loss to Queen's

THIS YEAR: 3-3, T-4th, OUA

WEEK EIGHT: Saturday, 30-24 win at Ottawa

Windsor jumps into my top 10 after another impressive win. After starting 0-2, Windsor is 4-1 and have displayed some great defence. The Lancers have officially emerged as the 4th best team in the OUA behind Western, Laurier and Queens after their win against Ottawa. — Geono Aloisio, CanWest Writer
Windsor's 30-24 win over Ottawa vaults the Lancers over the Gee Gee's on my list. This is the first time all season Ottawa has fallen outside my top-10, but considering the quality of their wins against bottom-feeders puts the Gee-Gees in the pretender column for me. — Jeffrey Kennett, CanWest Writer

13. UBC Thunderbirds (-)

LAST YEAR: 5-4, Hardy Cup semifinal loss to Saskatchewan

THIS YEAR: 2-4, T-4th, CW

WEEK EIGHT: CanWest Bye

14. Ottawa Gee-Gees (10)

LAST YEAR: 4-5, Yates Cup quarterfinal loss to Guelph

THIS YEAR: 3-4, T-5th, OUA

WEEK EIGHT: Saturday, 30-24 loss vs. Windsor

I did drop Ottawa one spot, a tough couple losses in a row have put a pause on the Gee-Gees playoff plans. They still have one more game against Toronto and will try to finish the season at .500. — Ryan O'Connor, OUA Writer

15. Sherbrooke Vert et Or (14)

LAST YEAR: 1-7, missed playoffs

THIS YEAR: 2-4, 3rd, RSEQ

WEEK EIGHT: Friday, 43-2 loss at Montreal

On The Cusp

Alberta's season has been filled with disappointing finishes. They easily could have been at least 3-3 at this point, but some late game collapses have put this team last in the conference. The offence seems to be working very well under Trey Reider. However Alberta needs to come out of this bye as a new team and put everything on the line to win their last two games. — Ryan O'Connor, OUA Writer
Nothing too exciting happening in week 8. Next weekend will be must watch TV, playoff seedlings are finalized and we finally get an answer to the biggest question of the OUA season. Can Western get revenge on Laurier? — Ryan O'Connor, OUA Writer
November football is right around the corner and there are still plenty of storylines to watch in every conference. Everyone across the nation should be tuning into the Laurier vs Western this week! — Geono Aloisio, CanWest Writer
