To start the game, Queen’s managed only a first-quarter rouge before Canada West MVP Daniel Wiebe struck for a 42-yard touchdown, putting Saskatchewan ahead 7–1.

The Huskies would then dominate the second quarter, sacking quarterback Alex Vreeken three times, burying Queen’s deep in their own half with suffocating special teams, and stretching the lead to 13 on Daniel Kubongo's 85-yard punt-return touchdown.

The Gaels kept pushing in the second half but could never fully close the gap. Cedric Smith’s touchdown brought hope, a safety took it away, and despite Logan Walton’s deep grab setting up a red-zone drive, Queen’s settled for three instead of six, cutting it to 16–11. That was as close as they came.

Two more Huskie field goals, a swarming defence, and outstanding special team’s performance sealed the 22–11 final.

Saskatchewan now heads to the Vanier Cup for the third time in five years. They will face the Montreal Carabins next Saturday, Nov. 22 in the 60th Vanier Cup at Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Queen’s closes the 2025 season with pride, finishing with an 8–4 overall record and claiming their first Yates Cup since 2009. It was a standout year and a clear step back towards championship form for the perennial program. Expectations will be high in 2026, with many of this year’s stars returning to defend their crown.

(Saskatchewan) WR Daniel Wiebe, 3 rec, 80 yards, 1 TD
